Searching for what?

I can see stuff you can't.  No, I don't mean I can see stuff like Haley Joel Osment -- "I see dead people."  As my three-year-old grandson said about stuff like that -- "Too scawy."  He meant scary.  You had to be there, I guess, but it was really cute.  Anyway, although I can't see who visits the blog, what I can see is stuff like:

1. how many page views we get
2. what links visitors came from
3. what links they clicked out on
4. what posts they looked at

So much for privacy.  But the really interesting thing is, I can see what people are searching for when they wind up serendipitously at "Confessions of a Small-Church Pastor."  Here are some of the more interesting things folks were looking for:

1. Sermon for Superbowl Sunday -- This has popped up several times.  Hey, folks, it's Thursday.  You got two more days.  What's the rush?
2. Germany church pastors -- Somebody keeps looking for German church pastors and landing here.  Let me make this clear -- the only German church pastor I know is Dietrich Bonhoeffer and it's really hard to reach him now.
3. Pastor search -- I get a lot of these with variations -- pastor search, pastor search committee, senior pastor search, pulpit committee, etc.  Go to Churchstaffing.com, 'cause I have no jobs.  But if you hear of something you think I might be interested in.....(just kidding, in case my deacon chairman looks at this!)
4. Pastor Jennifer email address -- Pastor Jennifer, somebody is looking for you, wherever you are.
5. 2007 Email Pastors Friends Church -- I don't even know what these folks are looking for.  They are either looking for email for their pastor's friend's church, or Friends Church, or 2007 or something.  Let me make a suggestion -- look for "how search engines work."   Could save you a lot of time.
6. Pastors leaving ministry -- I get a lot of these.  Unlike some other searches, these aren't funny.  As a matter of fact, I got more response to the two posts I did on leaving the ministry than anything else I have posted.  Some of us are hurting and looking for help, or at least a place to gather with other pastors who have faced similar situations.  I hope you feel this is your place.  As always, you can email me, post a comment, or just hang around.  Believe me, I know what it's like to be searching for someone who understands.
